PURPOSE: To provide a starch-based excipient effective for the production of a tablet by direct-compression or other tableting method.£Pullulanase, isoamylase, gelatinization, granular structure. CONSTITUTION: This excipient for tablet consisting of a starch containing >=20wt.% of short-chain amylose is produced by enzymatically debranching a starch with effectiveα-1,6-D-glucanohydrase together with a binder- decomposing agent, a binder-diluent, a filler, a diluent, a water-absorber, a glidant, a lubricant, a flowing agent, a surface lustering agent, a curing agent or their combination. The starch is a wholly or partly debranched starch composed of a short-chain amylose, an amylopectin, a partly debranched amylopectin, a long-chain amylose or their mixture.
