PURPOSE: To obtain a vaccine effective for preventing diseases caused by bacterium Bordetella pertussis, capable of being formulated with only a necessary antigen in an optimum antigen ratio without unnecessarily being subjected to detoxication treatment having fear of feeling effectiveness of the antigen. CONSTITUTION: A fibrillated hemagglutinin(FHA) of Bordetella pertussis, a detoxicated lymphhocytosis promoting factor(LPF) and a 69 dalton outer layer membrane protein are individually purified and formulated in a fixed antigen ratio to give a vaccine effective for preventing diseases caused by bacterium Bordetella pertussis. The vaccine is further mixed with non-Bordetella pertussis vaccine components such as diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid and deactivated poliovirus to provide a polyvalent vaccine.
