PURPOSE: To improve light emission effect by constituting a polarizing modulator like a liquid crystal panel and utilizing two orthogonal components of polarized light. CONSTITUTION: In the projection device which has a light source 3 and the polarized light modulator 2 which modulates polarized light 5 of a projected image, a polarized light splitter 10 is arranged between the light source 3 and modulator 2. Namely, the light 5 is split into 2nd luminous flux S1 and 3rd luminous flux P1 which have different directions and they are modulated by the polarizer 2 to appear as 4th flux P2 and S2 of luminous fluxes and 5th flux P3 and S3 of luminous fluxes. Further, the modulator 2 is equipped with an analyzing means 20 for polarized light on the opposite side from the splitter 10 and the 4th flux P2 and S2 of luminous fluxes and the 5th flux P3 and S3 of luminous fluxes are received and analyzed to compose an image to be projected. |
