PURPOSE: To provide an image forming device for a raster type signal which uses a spatial optical modulator. CONSTITUTION: This image forming device has an optical system which focuses light on a linear optical active area of the spatial optical modulator. The optical active area has pixels 20 arrayed on the substrate, a hard insulating spacer layer 24 on the substrate, and a conductive reflecting layer 26 on the spacer layer. Each pixel has a member which can electrostatically deflect in the reflecting layer and a well belon the member which can deflect in the spacer. An address circuit on the substrate 22 supplies a signal for deflecting the opposite deflectable member. A 2nd optical system focuses deflected reflected light in a scanned deflectable member on the linear area of a photosensitive material. |
