METHOD FOR SIMULTANEOUSLY PREPARING MORPHOLINE AND 2-(2-AMINOALKOXY)ALKANOL

A morpholine and a 2-(2-aminoalkoxy) alkanol e.g. 2-(2-aminoethoxy) ethanol may be obtained by reacting a dialkylene glycol e.g. in which each R is independently hydrogen or alkyl with ammonia in the presence of added hydrogen over a nickel-chromium oxide catalyst, employed in combination with an oxide-supported nickel catalyst. Use of the oxide-supported nickel catalyst suppresses formation of carbon dioxide.
