PRODUCTION OF ETHYLENEDIAMINE

PURPOSE:To provide a method for producing ethylenediamine in higher selectivity than that of conventional methods in the method for producing the ethylenediamine by reacting monoethanolamine with ammonia in the presence of hydrogen and a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Monoethanolamine is reacted with ammonia in the presence of hydrogen and a catalyst to produce ethylenediamine. In the above-mentioned method, a nickel-based catalyst supported on a crystalline silica carrier having a cristobalite type structure can be used to produce the ethylenediamine in higher selectivity than that of conventional methods.
