PURPOSE: To improve the output adjustment of a natural convection reactor, and impart load follow-up capability. CONSTITUTION: A valve 164 is opened and closed by a controller 166, and a steam flow from a steam collector 142 to a turbine 104 is adjusted. The controller 166 can so constitute that a specified output level is maintained and the output is adjusted as the function of load or time. When the output level becomes excessive, the valve 164 is closed. An auxiliary steam flow to the turbine is directly reduced, and the output is reduced. According to this, the steam to be removed from the steam collector 142, i.e., a descending part, is reduced. As a result, the amount of carry-under steam increases, and the power to be generated in the reactor core 112 decreases. On the contrary, the power output can be increased by opening the valve 164. Thereby output adjustment is continuously enabled in a natural circulation boiling water reactor.
