PURPOSE: To treat the hair with a new hair setting agent composition making use of an organosilicon compound as a specific nonpolar silsesquioxane as film-forming component so as to retain the hair's curl. CONSTITUTION: A new hair setting agent composition is produced by using an organosilicon compound as a nonpolar silsesquioxane selected from the group consisting of a compound of formula I (R, R', R" and R"' are each an alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or alkylaryl; (w), (x) and (y) are each 0 - about 1,000, however, (w+y) is >=1) and hydroxy, alkoxy, aryloxy and alkenoxy derivatives therefrom (esp. a compound of formula II) as film-forming component. Using the composition, the hair is treated so as to retain its curl. This composition has such advantages as excellent curl retaining ability, solubility to ethanol, excellent shampoo removability, favorable glass, improved holdability, low adherence, nonstickiness, and reduced defoliation.
