PURPOSE: To provide a plasma display element, which is structurally firm and has a low line resistance and negative electrodes with high strength, and its manufacturing method. CONSTITUTION: A large number of metal wires 3 are arranged in parallel and compound fibers 1 in which many thermoplastic strings 2 in the direction orthogonal to the metal wires 3 are arranged in parallel are fixed to a back board 20. A plasma display element is manufactured forming negative electrodes K by removing the thermoplastic strings 2 by burning treatment of the compound fibers 1.
