PURPOSE: To facilitate mixing of air supplied to a cylinder with fuel supplied to the cylinder by means of a fuel injection device, by heating the fuel. CONSTITUTION: An internal combustion engine has a fuel injection device 4 furnishing fuel to a cylinder via a cylinder head passage 32 leading to a cylinder inlet valve 3, and having an air inlet channel member 1 furnishing air to the cylinder via the passage. Such an internal combustion engine has a heating element 6 having a heat sink 7 and a positive temperature coefficient heating tablet on the heat sink 7. The element 6 is recessed into an opening in the opening of the cylinder head or the air inlet channel member to receive fuel from the fuel injection device 4 and facilitate mixing of the fuel with the air being furnished to the cylinder substantially free of interference with the flow of the air to the cylinder. |
