PURPOSE: To dispense with formation of a truncated conical part on a thrust washer and a propeller shaft by providing a propeller shaft having a first surface substantially vertical to the longitudinal axis and a thrust washer means for transmitting thrusting force from the propeller shaft to the first surface. CONSTITUTION: A propeller shaft 32 has a first part 40 having a first substantially cylindrical outer surface 42, a transition surface 44 is disposed in the rear of the first part 40, and the transition surface 44 partitions a plane which is substantially right-angled to a longitudinal axis 33 and vertical to a major axis 33. A propeller shaft 32 has a second part 46 which is further extended backward from the transition surface, has a second substantially cylindrical outer surface 48 and has a diameter smaller than the first part 40. A means 69 for transmitting the thrusting forces from the propeller to the transition surface 44, transmitting the bending force to the first cylindrical surface 42 and intercepting the second cylindrical surface 48 from the bending force includes a thrust washer 70 having a substantially annular disc-shape mounted on the propeller shaft 32. |
