PURPOSE: To obtain a composition for making a woven fabric flame-retardant by making the composition include a water-insoluble ammonium polyphosphate, a thermosetting resin, etc., optionally a surfactant, a water-soluble ammonium polyphosphate and/or a carbamic acid derivative. CONSTITUTION: This composition having thixotropic performances is obtained by mixing a water-insoluble ammonium polyphosphate with a phosphate having a solubility in Manders test at 20 deg.C smaller than 10 g/100 g, an average particle diameter smaller than 50μm and 20-35 wt.% phosphorus content, an antifoaming agent, a thermosetting resin (e.g. acrylic copolymer), water, optionally, a water- soluble ammonium polyphosphate and/or a carbamic acid derivative. The composition is applied to a composite yarn of cellulose and synthetic fiber, thermally cured to give a flame-retardant yarn having an excellent touch free from exuding of resin and salts to the surface. |
