PURPOSE: To provide a semiconductor memory for storing pixel information for a video display device. CONSTITUTION: This memory comprises first and second memory arrays 10, 12 and first and second serial register means 34, 42, 36, 44 to which data in the rows of the respective arrays are transferred. The inputs and outputs of the first register means 34, 42 are multiplexed on an exclusive pin Sϕ, the inputs and outputs of the second register means 36, 44 are multiplexed on an exclusive pin S1 , the multiplexing means responds to a control signal SOE and either the input or the output is connected to an external circuit. The multiplexing memory capable of executing independent function are provided while using the control function in common by using the minimum number of pins.
