PURPOSE: To attain high-quality power shift down by increasing the applied on-coming pressure to the maximum quantity when the synchronization of on-coming clutches is determined and detected from the comparison of the turbine speed and output speed, and decreasing the applied off-going pressure to complete switching. CONSTITUTION: When the off-going pressure applied to off-going clutches C1-C5 is increased by the set quantity and an increase of the prescribed slip is detected in the turbine speed pull-up, a closed loop control period of the off-going clutches C1-C5 is started, the on-coming pressure is gradually increased during the period to establish the slip speed characteristic, and the slip of on-coming clutches C1-C5 is measured. To control the slip according to the characteristic, the off-going pressure applied to the off-going clutches C1-C5 is controlled, and the synchronization of the on-coming clutches C1-C5 is determined from the comparison of the turbine speed and output speed. When synchronization is detected, the applied on-coming pressure is increased to the maximum quantity, and the applied off-going pressure is decreased to complete switching. |
