Hydraulic fluids comprise a mixture of (a) at least one monoalkyl ether of a polyalkylene glycol; and (b) at least one di- or tri-alkylene glycol, wherein at least one of the terminal hydroxyl groups of at least one of the said components has been reacted with propylene oxide or butylene oxide. In examples, the alkylene portion of (a) and (b) is ethylene.
