PURPOSE:To provide a specific carbon material composition for producing specific carbon materials having high density, high strength, high purity and high oxidation resistance. CONSTITUTION:Coal tar pitch is added to a composition consisting mainly of a raw pitch coke having an average particle diameter of <=15mum and a calcined pitch coke having an average particle diameter of <=44mu to provide a specific carbon material composition wherein the raw pitch coke is contained in an amount of >=40 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the composition consisting of the raw pitch coke and the calcined pitch coke. The composition can be heated, kneaded, pulverized, molded, calcined by conventional methods and, if necessary, subsequently graphitized to provide a specific carbon material having high density, high strength, especially strength capable of exceeding an anti-breakage force of 800kg/cm<2>, high purity and high oxidation resistance. |
