PURPOSE: To connect a shift shaft and a roller with no shock and to prevent heating by providing a means operably connecting the shift shaft and the roller for displacing the roller to a driving position in response to the movement of the shift shaft to the driving position and for displacing the roller to a non- driving position in response to the movement of the shift shaft to a neutral position. CONSTITUTION: This roller clutch reversing transmission is provided with bevel gears 141, 143 rotatably supported in a gear case 19 for rotation relative to a propeller shaft 31 in spaced relation to it, a drive pinion 139 supported for rotation by a propulsion unit and engaged with the bevel gears 141, 143, a shift shaft 211 moved toward the propeller shaft 31 between a driving position and a neutral position, and a roller 191 retained between a flat section 45 and the bevel gears 141, 143. When the shift shaft 211 is moved to the driving position, the roller 191 is moved to the driving position where the bevel gears 141, 143 and the propeller shaft 31 are engaged. When the shift shaft 211 is moved to the neutral position, the roller 191 is moved to a non-driving position where the bevel gears 141, 143 and the propeller shaft 31 are released. |
