PURPOSE: To engage a gear without exerting excessive driving force on a driving system by providing the second coupling member of a coupler capable of being moved in the limited circumferential direction relative to the gear to allow a first and second coupling members to engage with each other without rotating the gear. CONSTITUTION: This coupler 10 for coupling a gear 24 to a shaft 14 includes a first coupling member 12 which is connected for rotation with the shaft 14 and a second coupling member 18a which is connected for rotation with the gear 24 and engageable by the first coupling member 12 for coupling the gear 24 to the shaft 14. The second coupling member 18a of the coupler 10 is capable of being moved in the limited circumferential direction relative to the gear 24 to allow the first and second coupling members 12, 18a to engage each other without rotating the gear 24. |
