[Also in Division D1] A tyre cord yarn comprises nylon filaments forming between 20 and 80% by weight of the yarn intermingled with linear polyester filaments, the yarn having an elongation at break of above 10% and a tenacity above 6 grams per denier. The filaments are intermingled by means of an air jet or by being twisted on a down-twister. Two yarns each twisted in one direction may be twisted together in the opposite direction to form a tyre cord, which is woven into a fabric, dipped in adhesive, heattreated, and used for tyre building. |
