PURPOSE: To provide an inexpensive process for producing contact lenses. CONSTITUTION: Standardized throw-away molds (M) (male mold and female mold) made of plastic are produced from a limited number of molding tools (THE) having the standardized parameters (diameter, radius of curvature, vertex refractive index, etc.) of the contact lenses. Many kinds of adjusted concave surfaces or convex faces (n) are adjusted by partly removing the plastic material by, for example, machining, from the M. A monomer or copolymer of the plastic which is the material for the contact lenses is directly polymerized in the cavity formed by mating the male mold and female mold of the molds (M), by which the contact lenses are produced in one step.
