METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR STORING AND SEARCHING CHEMICAL FORMULA IN DATABASE

PURPOSE: To retrieve a prescribed chemical formula out of a prepared list of Marcush formulas with high reliability and at a high speed. CONSTITUTION: Each of formulas includes a reference number and a spare selection number and is stored in a base file 14 in the form of a connection table. A list of all nodes including two right adjacent to each other is decided for every formula of the file 14 and a retrieved formula that is stored in the same form as the file formula. Then a full double environment fragment resulting from every node of the list is calculated. In regard to the 1st fragment of a retrieved Marcush formula, a 1st list of enable formula reference numbers is extracted out of a produced fragment file 18. Then the 2nd and subsequent lists are continuously extracted until a list resulting from the fragment of a formula having the optimum length is decided as necessary. Then the spare selection number of the retrieved Marcush formula is compared with the spare selection number of the list formula resulting from the fragment. Thus the final list of candidates is obtained.
