PURPOSE: To maintain filtering activity and to prevent filtering characteristic from changing in causing precipitation by adding a filter aid and stabilizer to liquid and recovering filter cake for reuse, by using a fibrous and/or particulate heavy and stable metal or carbon particles or the like as a filter aid. CONSTITUTION: For precipitating filter cake of a filter device 4, particles of metals and metal oxides such as aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide which are fibrous and/or particulate, heavy and chemically stable, and/or carbon particles, are used as filter aids which are stable to a solvent such as water necessary for washing, ash solution and continuously added to an untreated liquid stream in a proper amount. The filter aids also contain other ingredients consisting of plastic fibers and/or cellulose fibers having 1 to 5000μm of fiber length and 0.5 to 100μm of fiber thickness, fed from a vessel 3. Structure of the filtering activity of the filter aids are maintained, causing no change in filtering characteristics even after repeated uses.
