METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF PROTOCOL HIERARCHY TEST BETWEEN NEAR END AND FAR END OF COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: To guarantee the linked operation between ISDN products and specification adaptability of the products by remotely testing a protocol between a tester at a local test center and a testing system at a geographically remote place. CONSTITUTION: A system 21 communicates with a tester 29 and an SUT 30 through a network 22 so as to perform access to the tester 29 and SUT 30 and to support tests conducted at a remote place 26. Since the tester 29 usually has a wide basis of test subroutines, the tester 29 can simultaneously execute many test sessions. During the tests, the SUT 30 is connected to the tester 29 through interfaces 27 and 28 and the system 21. The principal functions of the local interface 23 and remote interface 24 of the system 21 are to split the corresponding ISDN interfaces 27 and 28 and insert the network 22 between the interfaces 27 and 28. This is done by means of a repeater 31 at the local place 25 and a repeater 32 at the remote place 26.
