A device for loading rolls of turf which are obtained from a grass-pick-up machine in which loose-cut pieces of turf are formed into transportable rolls. The rolls are transferred by means of a conveyor 9 from the pick-up machine I to a magazine II in which a number of rolls are loaded into a layer corresponding to the surface area of the base, usually a pallet 19, on which the rolls are to be loaded. For displacement of the rolls into the desired position in the magazine II, advancing members 11,12 are installed, which act in two mutually perpendicular directions. The rolls are mounted on an openable base 7 and beneath this base there is disposed a receptacle III having vertically movable supports 18 for the pallet 19. Once a layer of rolls is ready-loaded in the magazine II, the base 7 is opened and the layer of rolls is dropped down onto the pallet 19, which is subsequently lowered into a position for receiving the next layer of rolls which are meanwhile being filled into the magazine above. <IMAGE> |
