[Also in Division G3] A tool for holding pivoted gear-wheel- and pinion components (19, 19<SP>1</SP>), (20-20<SP>1</SP>), (21- 21<SP>1</SP>), in predetermined positions for the purpose . of connecting their pivots by a bridge comprises a flat element formed with; notches 7, 8, 9 having circular bases corresponding to the pinions (19<SP>1</SP>), (20<SP>1</SP>), (21<SP>1</SP>). The flat element has channels (14), (16) which afford communication between the bases of the notches and a source of suction connected to the element at 17. The flat element comprises a bottom plate 4 guided beneath an arm 1 by pins 29 and is connected to the arm by studs 25, 30 which are slidable in guide slots 3. The right-hand end of the plate 4 carries superimposed profiled plates 5, 6 which with the plate 4 form a " hand," the channels (14), (16) being formed by countersinks via some of the plates. In operation a bearing plate (4), Fig. 9 (not shown), is brought into assembly position in register with the hand, the three pivoted components are fitted in the hand and the plate (4) is pushed forward by application of force to the stud 25 until the bases of outer notches 10, 11 provided in the plate 5 engage with stops (22), (23), Fig. 8 (not shown). Suction is then applied to hold the pivoted components in correct position. |
