A plate heat exchanger comprises a plurality of heat exchanger plates which are tightened together in a frame and sealed relative to each other by seals (2) placed in circumferential grooves (1), the grooves being rectangular or trapezium- shaped in section. Each seal (2) has parallel side surfaces and preferably wedge-shaped deformable protrusions (5) projecting in the lower half of the surfaces, the maximum width of the seal across the protrusions being greater than the width of the groove (1), so that the protrusions act to clamp the seal in the groove. <IMAGE> |
