A block B of the insulating material is broken up into sheets 1 which are then subdivided either by cutting or by stamping into smaller pieces 3 with the dimensions which correspond to their application, and they are then printed on the visible face with the motifs 7 which are suitable for decoration, optionally protecting said visible face with an appropriate varnish or the like. The resulting plate, with the aforesaid characteristics, is especially suited to an application as a sound-absorbent covering. <IMAGE>
