PURPOSE: To surely feed a copy sheet, and to correctly register it by providing a movable sheet stopping means provided with a partial sheet stop surface for partially protecting a sheet tip member from the complete engagement with a sheet repositioning means in the transverse direction. CONSTITUTION: A movable partial sheet stop surface 34 is provided for partially protecting a tip part of a sheet 14 to be carried so as not to completely abut on a lateral scuffer 18 without preventing the transverse movement of the sheet 14 by lateral scuffer 18. The sheet 14 is protected from the distortion or damages of an end part of the sheet 14. The sheet 14 to be carried is fed and loaded below a curved carrying guide baffle 16 placed on a stack 12, and the floating frictional input flapper scuffer feeds and supports the sheet to the lateral scuffer 18 on the downstream side for the improved lateral registration.
