Device countering the tension of the strings on a musical instrument with plucked strings, and enabling a refinement of the wooden parts of stringed instruments in order to obtain long powerful vibrations. This advice consists of a second set of non-plucked strings (10) fixed to the two ends of the instrument, passing through the inside of the resonating body and into the neck (13). These non-plucked strings exert a force from the inside (CP) towards the outside on a fixed bridge (5) beneath the belly and beneath the external bridge (4). Similarly to the external chords, they have a nut (7) at the end of the neck. The total tension of the internal strings is equal to the total tension of the external strings so as to cancel out any stresses on the belly and on the neck (P, CP) and (T, CT). The free vibration of the internal strings, under the influence of the external strings, increases in sympathy the volume and the length of the plucked sounds. The tuning of the two sets of strings covers the entire range of the chromatic scale. The device according to the invention is designed for all musical instruments with plucked strings, such as mandolins, lutes, guitars, citterns, etc. <IMAGE>
