The invention relates to an apparatus for monitoring powdered materials, in order to carry out automatic detection of foreign bodies on powdered materials and remove the foreign bodies detected. This apparatus includes a rotating plate (1) carrying, on its surface, a powdered material to be inspected; a distributor (dispenser) (2) which delivers the powdered material onto the surface of the rotating plate, in the form of a single layer arranged in a line; at least one photoelectric detector system (4, 6) which explores the powdered material present on the surface of the plate, from its front and rear faces; at least one member (5, 7) for removing foreign bodies; and a member (8) for removing powdered material. <IMAGE>
