GEOMETRIC VECTOR QUANTIZATION

摘要

PURPOSE: To perform encoding at a low beat rate by generating an encoded indication only when the difference of sizes between respective pairs exceeds a correspondent threshold value and generating an indication encoded to zero when the difference does not exceed that threshold value. CONSTITUTION: The-continuous frames of video information are inputted to a sub-band analytic block 110 and at this block, a space-time component is generated and inputted to an energy measuring block 120. In this case, an image is separated into 11 pieces of time-space sub-bands and the energy of these bands is individually determined. Further, a sub-band signal remained after comparison with a threshold value appearing in an input 160 to a geometric vector quantizer is systematically compared with a vector stored in a code book 160. Besides, multilevel signals from respective sub-bands expressing a video amplitude is expressed in one sub-band at the same time point.
