PURPOSE:To provide the subject foamed product having a good appearance without the danger of ignition by adding a specific amount of a higher fatty acid alcoholic ester to a polystyrene resin, and subsequently feeding the mixture together with the fine powder of an inorganic material and an easily volatile foaming agent into an extruder. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100 pts.wt. of a polystyrene resin is mixed with (B) 0.01-2 pts.wt. of a higher fatty acid alcoholic ester such as stearic acid monoglyceride, (C) the fine powder of an inorganic material such as finely powdered talc, and (D) an easily volatile foaming agent such as butane or propane. The mixture is then fed into an extruder, thermally melted, and subsequently extruded from a spinneret into a low pressure region to produce the objective foamed product not having a color and a smell, and having a beautiful thin skin. |
