PURPOSE:To discharge foams in the ink jet head together with ink and facilitate the defoaming by providing a pump for forcibly introducing air into an ink tank through an air intake port of the tank to increase the pressure in the tank. CONSTITUTION:A fibrous or porous felt 13 for developing capillary or surface tension is contained in the interior of the ink tank 12. When foams penetrate into the head through a nozzle 7, pressurized air is fed into the tank 12 through a tube 15 and the air intake port 14 by the pump 16 formed from rubber, plastic or the like, whereby the liquid surface of the ink in the felt 13 is pressed directly and the ink is fed into the head through an ink supply pipe. Accordingly, the foams in the vicinity of the nozzle 7 or in the head are discharged together with the ink. |
