PURPOSE: To provide a manual transmission having a simple structure at a low cost. CONSTITUTION: This manual transmission is provided with an input shaft 11, an output shaft 13 axially aligned with the input shaft 11, a countershaft 15 having a gear cluster 17, a plurality of gears on the countershaft 15 providing first through sixth gears and a reverse gear, and a plurality of synchronizers on either the output shaft 13 or the countershaft 15 for actuating the gears. The synchronizers include a 1-2 synchronizer 36, a 3-4 synchronizer 38, a reverse synchronizer 42 encompassing the output shaft 13, and a 5-6 synchronizer 41 encompassing the counter shaft 15. An auxiliary shift rail 98 is arranged between the output shaft 13 and countershaft 15 in a housing for a 5-6 shift fork 69 and a reverse shift fork 77 without requiring complicated link devices previously found in five and six-speed transmissions. |
