The shuttle throwing mechanism can for a weaving loom transmits the impact energy to the shuttle by a swing lever which can be cocked by a pair of cams against the force of a spring. This spring is pref. a trand of high-strength aramide fibres which is balanced by a counterweight. The swing lever turns on the pivot and can be put under tension by the strand of aramide fibres which is wound on the ratchet wheel drum with the pawl loaded by the wt. on the lever. The lever is tensioned by the cam, driven by the loom motor, which straightens the knee joint a little over dead centre. The cam releases it by its peak and the lever imparts an impart on the shuttle as it turns clockwise. Near the end of its path, the brake strand comes into action and decelerates the lever through a dashpot and the weight on ratchet wheel.
