摘要 The wheel sensor system detects wheels of rail vehicles using metal detecting inductive pairs of sensors (1,3) positioned at the rails. The electrical levels of the output signals of the sensors are supplied to an evaluation circuit (5). The sensors are so arranged, that one sensor (1) is placed on the side of a rail (4), on which no wheel flange runs past, and the other sensor (3) is positioned on the side of a rail, on which a wheel flange runs past. The evaluation circuit (5) contains a comparator, which with unequal signal levels at its inputs gives an output signal (11). The running past of a wheel or set of wheels conforming to standard, then corresponds to one axle, if the signal level of the sensor (3) facing the wheel rim outweighs the level of the other sensor (1). USE/ADVANTAGE - For counting wheels in section of track. Eliminates errors caused by rimless wheels, magnetic rail brakes or eddy current brakes; small adjustment required and not responsive to electrical interference.
