Procedure and device for biological cleaning of gases

In an existing cleaning procedure, gases are passed through a substrate material (bio-filter) which is charged with different microorganisms and through which an aq. soln. is trickled. Under this method, nutrients and also specific toxins for the microorganisms are introduced into the bio-filter. Excess nutrients or toxins (V3) are collected and recirculated to the bio-filter. The toxins are specific and act only on some of the microorganisms, or may act on all of the microorganisms but with different intensities. Toxins e.g. heavy metal salts and/or potassium sorbate and/or dicyandiamide are used. Hydrogen peroxide may also be used. The quantity and type of the added nutrients and/or toxins are controlled in accordance with the quantity and type of the impurities in the gas. The sludge resulting from the treatment process is washed out of the substrate material and dried. The gas being cleaned is used for this drying process.
