Exhaust converter - has sealing element protecting external face of catalyst materials housing from hot exhaust gases
摘要
In an exhaust gas catalytic convertor, the catalytic structures are surrounded by a sleeve and located within an outer casing. The novelty is that the inflow rim of the sleeve is sealed against the inflow of exhaust gases by an element incorporating a ring body which seals the inflow gap first with a sprung sealing disc, and thereafter with a series of locating rims for elastic sealing rings. Pref. the ring body is made of corrugated thin-walled metal with gaps in the troughs interrupted by connecting strips on which ring seal locating fixtures are mounted at intervals. The sprung sealing disc incorporates slits at intervals. The dia. of the ring body is determined by the external diameter of the inflow gap. USE/ADVANTAGE - The arrangement protects the outer face of the sleeve within which the catalytic materials are housed from hot exhaust gases.
