The artificial hip joint is fastened to the top end of the femur. It has a shaft, shoulder, spherical head and locking pin arrangement. The shaft (2) has a spherical head (1) and shoulder (3) from which a dished part (17) joins the spherical head. Sunk in the shaft part is a locking pin (29) to which a serrated shield part is connected. Locking pin which rests on a silicon washer (39) is secured by lock nut (41).
