The locomotive (L) moving (x) along a track (G) is stopped in a precise position w.r.t. a crossing point (K) of an inductive loop (SCH) laid between the rails. It carries a transmitter (S) and receiver (E) for speed control initiated where the breadth (a) of the loop (SCH) begins to decrease. A phase reversal occurs at the stopping point (H) beyond which the locomotive (L) is prevented from proceeding. A variant embodiment has the loop at an angle to the track. USE/ADVNATAGE - At e.g. tank-wagon filling or emptying stations, or ramps for disabled passengers, exact positioning involves no additional operators.
