Each leaf spring element (1) is clamped (2) at a distance (s) from a fixed reference point (x), for bending by a tool (3) integrated with an e.g. fibre optic force measurement system (4). Data transmission lines (8) link the control computer (7) to this system (4) and to a linear positioner (5) coupled to a displacement meter (6). The measured distance (s) is subtracted from a desired value. The spring (1) is bent in the appropriate direction in a sequence of stages with measurements repeated until the desired position is attained. ADVANTAGE - Adjustment is achieved in fewer steps with less costly appts.
