A circular rubber seal (9) is installed in a hydraulic chamber (4) formed between two housing parts (1,2). This chamber is connected to a pressure producing piston-and-cylinder unit (12) and a pressure indicator (13). The internal side of the seal is open to the hydraulic channels (10) connected to the chamber. The external side of the seal is closed by a mounting ring (16) and the component to be tested (17). A cylindrical core (3) is installed in the chamber. The end regions of the core, symmetrical to each other, have inclined sections (5,6) extending over their whole circumference. These sections correspond to internal inclines (7,8) of the housing parts. The sealing sleeve (9) is tensioned between the corresponding inclines of the core and housing parts. The hydraulic channels extend through the core. A gap (19) remains between the housing parts outside the rubber sleeve. The mounting ring (16) is placed in this gap between the sleeve and component under test. USE/ADVANTAGE - Rational testing for firmness with testing force equally distributed.
