A solar system for heating water consists of two transparent plastic foil bags, one on top of the other, each containing separate quantities of water. In, or immediately underneath, the bottom bag is an absorbent pad to absorb the rays of the sun, which then transfers the heat arising to the water in the lower bag. A flat heat exchanger lies between the two bags, and the water to be heated flows through it. The heat energy absorbed by the water in the lower bag is transferred either directly to the heat exchanger or partly through the surfaces of the two bags which are in contact to the water in the upper bag. USE/ADVANTAGE - The underside of the bottom bag can be coloured or black plastic to act as absorber, or the water in that bag can be dark coloured for that purpose.
