Drive device for IC engine with two camshafts - has independent camshaft drives off chain and sprocket

A drive device for two i.c. engine camshafts, having an inlet camshaft (2) and an outlet camshaft (4), has a unit (13) which turns the inlet camshaft relative to a coaxial drive gear (8) connected to the engine crankshahft. The gear is connected to a hub (9,10) located at either side of the gear in the cylinder head. A first sprocket wheel (22) is mounted on the hub between the drive gear and one of the bearings (11,12). This, via a chain (24), is connected coaxially to the outlet camshaft, and drives a second chain wheel (23). ADVANTAGE - Independent camshaft drives, easy incorporation of an adjustment unit for the second camshaft.
