OPTICS APPROACH TO LOW SIDE COMPLIANCE SIMULATION A low cost visual simulation system (100) for training simulators is disclosed. Aerial photo transparencies are used directly as image sources without creating a digital data base. The approximately correct image perspective is generated optically by a deformable mirror (114) and a zoom lens and rotation prism assembly (106). Stereo image photo pairs (120) need to be analyzed only at a relatively small number of points; thus, the computational burden is greatly reduced.
