COLORED FINE SPHERICAL PARTICLES, PROCESS FOR THEIR PREPARATION, AND THEIR USES

These new coloured fine spherical particles are produced in the following steps. (1) Dispersing a carbon black graft polymer obtained by the reaction between carbon black and a polymer (a) capable of reacting with carbon black in a polymerisable monomer component. (2) Polymerising the polymerisable component. The pH of the carbon black is specified to be 8 or less (pref. 6 or less). The polymerisation in step (2) is carried out by a suspn. polymerisation. The polymer (a) has a mean mol. number of 500-1,000,000 and has at least one reactive functional gp. selected from among an azilidine, an oxazoline gp., an epoxy gp., a thio epoxy gp., an isocyanate gp., an N-hydroxyalkylamide gp., etc. In the prodn. of the carbon black graft polymer, the wt. ratio of carbon black to polymer (a) lies between 100:1-3,000 (pref. 100:5-1,000). The size of the produced coloured particles lies between 1 and 100 micron.
