PURPOSE:To prevent dental caries by inhibiting the action of glucosyltransferase and suppressing the formation of glucans in the oral cavity and further preventing bacterial plaques from forming. CONSTITUTION:A glucosyltransferase inhibitor is composed of an extract obtained by subjecting the terrestrial part of a plant belonging to the genus Rosa to extraction treatment with water, a hydrophilic organic solvent, butanol or a mixture thereof. An anticarious cleaning agent for the oral cavity such as dentifrice and a food and drink containing the aforementioned glucosyltransferase inhibitor as an active ingredient.
