PURPOSE:To achieve high reliability in detecting a residual quantity of ink by a method wherein a recording head which performs recording by spraying ink and a pressure sensor located in an ink reservoir for feeding ink to the record head or in an ink passage leading from the recording head to the ink reservoir are provided in an ink jet recording device to detect the residual quantity of ink in the ink reservoir by measuring pressure changes by means of the pressure sensor. CONSTITUTION:After starting a recording operation of a recording head, an operation for detecting a residual quantity of ink is started when the recording operation has been completed. |
