Process for the preparation of a thickening composition based on synthetic polymers endowed with thickening properties, characterised in that it consists in dispersing a powder of a first polymer endowed with thickening properties in an emulsion, prepared by inverse phase polymerisation, of a second polymer endowed with thickening properties, and in then adjusting the pH of the resulting dispersion in the range from 6 to 8. Use especially in the textile industry.
