The detector comprises an optical component (20) made of a transparent material, arranged so that the liquid (2) is in contact with a detection region (22, 24) including at least one surface of the optical component (20) when the level of the liquid (2) exceeds a threshold value. A light source (30) is arranged to emit light towards the detection region (22, 24), this light reaching the detection region (22, 24) through the inside of the optical component (20). A light detector (32) is arranged to detect a fraction of the light emitted by the light source (30) and reflected onto the detection region (22, 24).
